The government of Sierra Leone had placed a band on Right Hand Drive Vehicles; this band should have taken effect on September 1st 2014 if not for the Ebola situation in the Country. This measure was taken up by the Government in order to reduce the amount of road accidents. The decision was taken after a thorough assessment of the annual road accidents in the Country. The result clearly shows 70 % of Right Hand Drive Vehicles involvement in road accidents. Looking at the present Ebola situation in the Country wherein transporters were asked to reduce the number of passengers/vehicle to avoid the spread of Ebola through body contact, the Government has decided to extend the time to December 31 – 2014. With the break of this news, ENGIM –SL quickly reached again for its abandoned truck and has decided to maintenance it and put it back on the road. This Truck in addition to its numerous services rendered in project activities also provides job for three people (one driver and two mates. They are extremely happy about the extension. ENGIM SL is also thinking of a way the Truck can be converted to Left Hand Drive come January 2014 so that it will continue to serve the project especially in terms of construction work and it will also continue to provide employment for the Truck guys.
